- Driver Educator Recertification
Thursday, June 4, 1:00pm-5:00pm : Workshop, Cost: $20
Seminar to Develop a New Mexico Curriculum on Distracted Driving
(4 CEUs for driver educators).
It’s no secret that the problem of distracted driving has become epidemic in this country. New Mexico’s rules for driver education now specify “impairments and distractions” as areas of required education. Studies show that drivers—all of us— are aware that most distractions make driving much more dangerous, and yet we continue to engage in these behaviors.
This seminar will draw on New Mexico’s professional talent to develop a short, portable and persuasive unit on distracted driving for driver educators, using the most up to date information. Organizers will provide a curriculum expert, background materials and four hours of driver CE credit for the New Mexico driver education professionals who participate in this curriculum development workshop.
Who: Driver Education Teachers, Driving Safety Instructors and DWI School facilitators, bring your best ideas, short video, website, handout or other idea for inclusion in this Distracted Driving Curriculum. Online access to the internet will be available, so bring your wireless-equipped laptop if you like. We will also provide a computer attached to a projector to review online video, websites and other materials.
Once the curriculum is developed, it will be available on the internet for anyone who wants to download it.
This Seminar will provide 4.0 Continuing Education Credits for NM Driver instructors. Download registration form here.
