Overview. The Act authorizes an advance of funds against future revenues from the sale of duck stamps as a means of accelerating the acquisition and maintenance of migratory waterfowl habitat.
Findings/Policy. In order to promote the conservation of migratory waterfowl and to prevent the serious loss of important wetlands and other waterfowl habitat, monies were appropriated, to be repaid with duck stamp receipts. As of 1989, approximately $197,439,000 had been appropriated under this authority. There must be approval from the governor or appropriate state agency for land to be acquired with monies from the Migratory Bird Conservation Fund. §§ 715k-3 - 715k-5.
